OUR APPROACHES
Our Development methodology is premised on the understanding that effective development is powered by local led interventions and solutions. Locally available resources are the greatest asset in achieving sustainable Development. Our work therefore compliments the local asset base, equipping communities with the right skills and tools to drive change. We leverage the support of stakeholders such as communities themselves, Development Agencies, policy makers, academia, Government institutions, social institutions and practitioner networks and other Civil society groups.
We have deployed a series of change pathways that support our work. These include:
i. Truth-Centred Transformation (TCT) Model
The Truth-Centred Transformation (TCT) Model recognizes that real change and transformation can only be achieved when we anchor our Development interventions in Truth. Acknowledging the correct and authentic drivers of lack of development ensures that interventions are aligned and address specific issues This Model emphasizes uncovering and addressing core truths—whether in mindset, behavior, or systemic structures—to create meaningful and lasting transformation. By integrating principles of self-awareness, transparency, and intentional action, the model helps communities break free from limiting patterns and unlock their highest potential.
ii. Church and Community Mobilization Processes (CCMP)
The Church and Community Mobilization Processes (CCMP) model seeks to equip churches and local communities to identify and address their own challenges using available resources. The Concept is anchored in Biblical principles, encouraging self-reliance, stewardship, and collective action, fostering sustainable development from within. By engaging local leaders and congregations, this process helps communities break free from dependency, unlocking their God-given potential to create lasting change.
A Participatory and Inclusive Approach
The CCMP Model operates through participatory Bible studies, group discussions, and community-led planning, ensuring everyone—regardless of age, gender, or social status—has a voice. Churches act as catalysts, guiding communities to analyze their situations, prioritize needs, and take ownership of solutions. Whether addressing poverty, education, or health, CCMP strengthens unity and accountability, leading to holistic growth that aligns with both spiritual and practical needs.
Sustainable Impact and Global Reach
From rural villages to urban centers, CCMP has empowered countless communities to overcome challenges through faith-driven action. By focusing on local ownership and capacity building, the process ensures long-term sustainability rather than short-term fixes. Churches become beacons of hope, demonstrating Christ’s love in tangible ways while inspiring broader social transformation.
iii. Participatory Rural Appraisal
Empowering Communities Through Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA)
Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) is a dynamic development approach that prioritizes local knowledge, active community involvement, and collaborative decision-making to address local challenges. The tool empowers communities by engaging them in assessing their own needs, resources, and opportunities. Through interactive tools like mapping, seasonal calendars, and group discussions, PRA fosters a deeper understanding of local contexts, ensuring development initiatives are culturally appropriate and sustainable.
Key Principles and Benefits of PRA
The tool incorporates the principles of participation, flexibility, and inclusivity. By involving communities, it builds trust and ownership, leading to more effective and long-lasting solutions. This approach not only enhances the accuracy of development planning but also strengthens local capacities, enabling communities to take charge of their own progress.
Transforming Development Through Collaboration
PRA represents a shift from passive beneficiary roles to active partnership, transforming how development projects are designed and implemented. By valuing local expertise and fostering participatory dialogue, PRA paves the way for equitable and sustainable rural development.
iv. People Owned Processes (POP)
People-Owned Processes (POP) prioritize local leadership and collective decision-making, ensuring that development initiatives are driven by the people they serve. It fosters ownership, accountability, and sustainability by involving community members in every stage—from planning to implementation and evaluation. This model recognizes that lasting change happens when individuals and groups actively shape their own futures, leveraging local knowledge, skills, and cultural values to create solutions that truly meet their needs.
Building Sustainable Change from the Ground Up
ADS underscores the belief that communities thrive when they have control over their development journey. By facilitating participatory workshops, inclusive governance structures, and capacity-building programs, we empower them to take charge of Change. Through this approach, we not only strengthen social cohesion but also ensures that interventions are culturally relevant and adaptable to changing circumstances. As a result, communities become more resilient, capable of addressing challenges independently and sustaining progress long after projects end.
In essence, we use this model to challenge the status quo by shifting power dynamics and amplifying grassroots voices. Hence, our programs promote transparency, reduces dependency on external aid, and fosters innovation through collaborative problem-solving. By centering community agency, we don’t just deliver short-term benefits—we cultivate a legacy of self-reliance and shared prosperity, proving that the most effective development is that which is owned by the people themselves.
v. Farming God’s Way
As stewards of God’s creation, we believe that we have an obligation to take care of the environment as it provides for us. Farming God’s way (FGW) is an approach adopted in our food security and agriculture programs to enhance sustainable use of natural resources among farming communities. At the heart of this approach, is the belief that agriculture should reflect God’s order and wisdom.
FGW is a biblically inspired, sustainable farming method that combines faith-based principles with cutting-edge agricultural techniques. Designed to restore degraded land and maximize yields, FGW emphasizes stewardship of God’s creation while empowering farmers to break free from poverty. By following principles such as no-till farming, mulching, and precise planting, this approach reduces labor, conserves water, and improves soil health—all while honoring God as the ultimate provider
With the effects of climate change further hampering agricultural productivity across the country, we have adopted this model to help farmers adopt sustainable land use practices. We sensitize farmers to work in harmony with nature, using organic materials and avoiding harmful chemicals. The method also incorporates spiritual discipleship, encouraging farmers to trust in God’s provision and share their abundance with others. This holistic approach not only boosts crop productivity but also fosters community transformation, as families gain food security and economic stability.
By integrating faith and farming, this model offers a powerful solution to environmental and economic challenges—demonstrating that when we farm God’s way, both the land and the people thrive.
