Climate Change

Kenya grapples with pressing environmental and climate challenges, driven by its heavy dependence on natural resources and exposure to extreme weather. Erratic rainfall, prolonged droughts, severe floods, and rising temperatures are disrupting key sectors—threatening food security, water access, and millions of livelihoods. Despite these growing risks, Kenya has emerged as a regional leader in climate action, implementing robust policies, pioneering adaptation strategies, and actively engaging in global agreements to build resilience and sustainable development.

ADS Kenya continues to develop and implement programs that help communities mitigate the adverse impacts of climate change and environmental degradation. These programs aim at increasing the adaptive capacity of vulnerable communities and resilience to climate change.

Some of our interventions include:

• Spearheading of the Green Anglican Movement as a tool for promoting a faith led approach to environmental stewardship.
• Championing Agroforestry and tree growing to help restore degraded forest zones and increase the country’s forest cover.
• Promote adoption of clean energy solutions to reduce dependence of fossil and wood fuels.
• Creating awareness on Proper waste management strategies to eliminate pollution and ecosystem degradation.

Promoting the development of Green skills to support establishment of eco-friendly enterprises.
