Community Development
Objective One:
To enhance access to integrated health services and sustainable livelihood opportunities for targeted communities by 2029.
ADS Kenya and ADS Regions will implement the following interventions and activities:
- Livelihoods and economic empowerment of communities and individuals
- Food Security and Nutrition, including food preparation and consumption, food processing, preservation and storage,
- Build capacity of ADS Regions and Community groups on Emergency Preparedness and Response.
Working with communities and Development Partners, ADS Kenya endeavors to improve community’s livelihoods, health, and nutrition outcomes while strengthening resilience to risks relating to climate change.
Our targeted interventions equip communities with the right tools and knowledge to enable them flourish in the face of environmental and economic challenges.
This is achieved through:
Food and Nutrition Security.
We continue to contribute to strengthening food productivity, livelihoods, and resilience of communities to the risks of climate change through promoting the adoption of comprehensive, innovative and sustainable agricultural approaches. Such approaches include:
- Creation of awareness on food processing and handling so as to reduce wastage and post-harvest loss while ensuring that there is sufficient supply to communities.
- Conducting nutrition education programs and awareness creation at community level on food and nutritional Security.
- Supporting agricultural and livestock production projects so as to increase food production and enterprise development.
- Development and strengthening of strategic collaborations and linkages with line ministries for better policy development.
- Promotion of diversification of food sources to ensure easy access to food by communities.
Health Care
Strengthening integrated health systems to enhance access to quality and affordable primary healthcare. Our interventions seek to strengthen existing health Systems offer quality healthcare to citizens across the country. This includes complimenting Government efforts to improve infrastructure enhancing capacities of the Country’s health workforce and adoption of technology in the delivery of healthcare. Our approaches focus on prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment, ensuring better health outcomes for all.
Our programming also aims at pursuing partnerships with stakeholders to develop scalable and sustainable healthcare models to address emerging health areas such as mental Health and Lifestyle Diseases; and Maternal and Child Health (MCH)
Sustainable Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment
ADS Kenya Recognizes the immense potential within communities to drive sustainable Livelihoods and Economic Development.
We seek to equip communities with the skills and resources essential to thrive and secure incomes so as to achieve financial independence and long-term prosperity.
We seek to we help break the cycle of poverty and foster long-term economic resilience by promoting entrepreneurship, vocational training, and inclusive financial services.
Our interventions also promote Innovation and Inclusion to community members. By strengthening local economies and reducing inequalities, we pave the way for self-reliance and shared prosperity within communities.
Some of the Activities we implement here include:
- Supporting community initiatives in value chains addition.
- Promote reliable savings and credit.
- Supporting financial education programs and creation of startup funds.
- Create green Jobs by accessing carbon markets.
Building a Future of Resilience and Opportunity
Our interventions also incorporate financial literacy trainings such as Village Saving and Loan association (VSLA), cooperatives, and digital financial literacy programs. This helps communities build assets and adapt to changing economic landscapes. Working with communities, we are building communities where members can access opportunities to thrive, contribute, and shape a sustainable future for generations to come.
